The Powerful

Rhonda Byrne, author of “The Secret,” has a new book called “The Power,” which says that to “Create anything, you need with the power of love.” Don’t just ‘Believe it,’ ‘Know it.”

In the world of spiritual metaphysical publishing, an author who is able to sell 19 million copies of a book and video is someone who is able to tap into a collective vision and someone to sit up and take notice of—not bash. To bash an author who understands millions of people around the Globe is to bash yourself for being ignorant of what people crave and value—a happier, more peaceful existence.

People speak their values with their wallets. In 2006, Rhonda Byrne’s book and video The Secret spread like wild fire. The Secret introduced a metaphysical law that had been around for thousands of years but went under the radar screen for the average person. She introduced the Law of Attraction which says that what you think and feel about, you attract into your life or, energetically, like attracts like.

The movie and book went viral because instinctively, we all know it’s true—like attract like but we’ve never put it on the table for discussion and analysis before The Secret came out. Since The Secret was published, the media and some in the metaphysical community have bashed the book saying, “It’s Gibberish; Rhonda Byrnes is a ‘crackpot’ who only talks about how to get money; or she says the same thing over and over again.” Ironically, the criticism comes from people who haven’t had the success Rhonda Byrnes has.

Perhaps if they read her new book The Power, with an open mind, they could learn a little about attracting what they love instead of talking about and writing about what they don’t love. You can always tell someone who has a miserable life. They bash The Secret and The Power with sarcasm. People who are living peaceful happy lives don’t feel the need to talk about things they don’t like. They don’t just ‘Believe,’ they ‘Know’ that going down the path of dark thoughts leads to dark experiences and is more a reflection of the person talking about it than the actual subject or person being discussed.

Rhonda Byrnes and her books have changed the way people think about their lives and their contribution to the world. For some people, being in pain is easier than being at peace. Misery loves company—bad company. Peace and love enjoy company as well—good company. Rhonda says, “When you give love, it not only comes back to you as positive circumstances that you love, but as it comes back, it adds even more love and positivity to your life! …Everything is magnetic, and when something good comes to you, it magnetically attracts more good things.”

Those who love peace are in good historical company. Mahatma Gandhi is referenced in the book. He was not a beggar with his hand stretched out as some people portray him but one of the most respected spiritual leaders of his time. He was a vegetarian and fasted. He was not poor. He was wealthy in so many ways. He practiced and advocated for non-violent disobedience which helped India to gain independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world including Martin Luther King’s movement in the United States. Gandhi’s movement was about using love not fear to manifest a peaceful outcome. Rhonda quotes Gandhi, “Whether humanity will consciously follow the law of love, I do not know. But that need not disturb me. The law will work just as the law of gravitation works whether we accept it or not.” I don’t think there’s any confusion of context as to what Gandhi meant in that statement.

To understand the Law of Attraction and The Power of love, one must always look in the mirror first. To some, this seems self centered. It is—in a good way. Being self centered means focusing on changing the way you think and feel instead of pointing the finger at others and expecting them to change to accommodate you. Being self centered and expecting the best possible outcome in any situation is not ‘psychosis’ as some would think. It’s part of the practice of being present and using the laws of quantum physics we are learning about in the 21st century which allows us to use our energy—the power of love to effect the outcome we would love to have.

The Power is certainly a deeply engaging, and uplifting book. I recommend that you substitute the Power of Reason with The Power of love. The 21st century is the Age of Energy. Rhonda Byrnes books are what I call Energy 101 for the masses. Her books are for those who choose to take the new knowledge of quantum physics to change their lives for the better. Proactive use of energy is part of the evolution of human history. Those who choose not to use energy to enjoy a life that makes them feel good instead of continuing to feel helpless and bad will be left behind. Which side of history do you want to be on? Do you want to be among the Powerless or Powerful?
